What is ALA Hawai'i Girls State?

ALA Hawai'i Girls State (ALAHGS) is a political simulation experience that allows participants to create their own state.
ALA Hawai'i Girls State is a nationally recognized, premier youth leadership and civics engagement program held for one week each summer just following junior year in high school.
ALAHGS is a multi-day, fun-filled, hands-on session for some of the best and brightest young women from across the state to find their voice of empowerment, practice their advocacy and create new understandings of the responsibilities of social justice.

Every state in the U.S. has one—and every state elects a Governor and Lt. Governor, and sends two delegates (all-expenses-paid) to Washington, D.C. to represent their own state at ALA Girls Nation in July.

Delegates are also housed and instructed in a university setting, offering a great look into the fast-approaching college life.
