When looking and applying for scholarships, start at your school (the less applicants to compete against the better!), then branch out locally and nationally.

A lot of your financial aid and scholarships will come directly from your college/university, so be sure to gather info from their website or admission counselor. Make note of their scholarship/financial aid deadlines, which many times are earlier than their application deadline!

AP AT CASTLE HIGH SCHOOL

Advanced Placement (AP) courses at Castle High School are extremely rigorous and equivalent to an introductory college-level course. Typically, successful AP students are task-oriented students as well as proficient readers who are able to organize their time and have support outside of school. Outside study time is generally at least one to two times the amount of time spent in class per week. Students who struggle with an AP course are expected to commit themselves to a greater effort and seek regular support services, one of which could be tutoring.

Additionally, if assigned, AP students are expected to complete summer preparation assignments.  Failing to complete the summer preparation assignments will seriously jeopardize the AP student’s success in the AP course. AP students are also expected to check their Castle Knights Gmail and Infinite Campus account daily to check for important information and updates regarding your class/program from your teacher and/or AP Coordinator. Students that register for AP courses may not drop the course once the  school year starts.

  • AP courses are 5.0 weighted classes.

  • Qualifying scores on the end of year AP exam may earn you college credit and/or placement depending on the college you attend.

Registration for AP courses happen from November-December during the student's Castle High School Registration. Students must have teacher recommendation to register. Students must also complete an AP Contract

Fee for each course is $96 ($32 for Free/Reduced Lunch eligible students). The fee is for the exam, which is mandatory for all students to take. For families with financial hardship, please reach out to the AP Coordinate, Eric Takemoto.
